Avery’s First Year Milestones

When I look back at Avery’s first year of life, I cannot express how impressed, wowed and proud I am of who he has grown into.  My sweet little baby who barely moved an inch had now become a little boy who walks, talks and wants to explore the world non-stop.

When we are asked “When did he do this – or that”, my husband tends to think it was months before it actually happened.  I kept a diary of the biggest milestones and this post is for us to always be able to look back at his first year and remember those moments.

After Avery turned one, he also started showing signs that he understands us.  He points at things that interest him or that he wants, he understands where we keep his shoes and that shoes are for going outdoors, he can climb the stairs but also knows how to scoot  or slide down the stairs, he can help clean up his toys and put away books, he can help Mommy dress him up, understands that story time means it’s almost time to sleep, grabs books he wants and turns the pages.  And so many more things.  It’s crazy and overwhelming but beautiful.  We are excited to see what else he will do.

Every child does different things at different times and we never stressed Avery.  Mommy’s biggest milestones were sleeping through the night and ending the breastfeeding relationship.  It’s been an amazing first year, my heart is so full.
